Class Expectations

I am a few weeks into the "Virtually Everything" class. I have had the opportunity to meet with both the Akron University and DIT students in Second Life and I have been able to explore Second Life on my own.  I am beginning to get used to moving around and teleporting. I hope that through my experience with this class, I will become more comfortable with virtual spaces and the ways they can be used.

I am very interested in ways that the social sciences can be used to understand virtual reality. With the rapid growth of online networking options and technology that allows to access virtual spaces from nearly anywhere at any time, the virtual world has become so integrated with other areas of our lives that it is changing the ways we communicate and interact with one another.  Through this class I hope to explore how virtual reality affects interpersonal relationships and communication.
